EM BUSCA DA SEGURANÇA: TECNOLOGIAS CONTRA O MEDO

In this article, based on the research conducted for obtaining a Master's degree in Sociology, I seek to bring to the agenda the discussion about the current context of public safety, pointing to the spreading of a culture of fear and an incessant search for a sense of security based on the perception that urban securization, through new techniques and technologies for security, can provide the solution to the issues of urban violence and crime. I seek here question this technological determinism, highlighting the limits of this perspective, pointing to a further discussion of the topics presented.
