Economic profitability of the production of Pinus smesoregion in Parana. This study aimed to analyze the economic profitability of Pinus spp. in the State of Parana, with mechanized production systems and manual, also considering different scen arios of investment in land. The data were obtained through the Department of Agriculture and Supply of Parana (SEAB). The results showed that both manual and as mechanized presented themselves viable, when the investment in land was a decrease in the internal rate of return (IRR). The best medium economic return was found for the mechanized system without investing in land, with IRR of 22,1% per year. Considering the investment in land, the best return was found for the mechanized system, wi th IRR of 12,1% per year. The forest mesoregions traditionally had higher IRR, due to lower land val ue. There are usually regions where agriculture is not the main activity, according to the characteristics of soil and relief. The Central-East and North Pio neer had the highest IRR not considering the acquisition of land with 23.5% and 22.8% and considering the acquisition of this, under the mechanized system, 1 1.9 and 11.71% respectively. The differences between the returns for each meso due mainly to the price of land.
