The objective of this work is to present the theory of family’s development as a referential way to actions on promotion and prevention in oral health. Recognize the family evolution as a continuous and dynamic process emphasizes different ways of action in this system, providing planning and optimizing the actions in health. To approach the concepts of theory to the professional practice, proposes renewed look to the oral health matters, emphasizing the acquisition period as a profitable moment of build and rebuild the knowledge, recognizing this as intensive changes’ moment. Although the mentioned theory needs complement in different theory-methodological bases of health- disease process for the odontology seems to be an instrument of special interest regarding the contextualization and integrality inserting oneself in the actual conception of health.
