Points the several factors that affects the practice of maternal breast feeding period among them the previous experience the emotional condition and the familiar support. Focalizes the role of the male nurse in the process of familiar interaction on the maternal breast feed period through the responsibility in knowing and analysing with the family the adopted practices, considering the culture, the conditions and the multidimensionality in this moment. The nursing care, consequently, emerges of the familiar and cultural context and expands through it.
