SOYBEAN ISOFLAVONES AND BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES Abstract The present review had as objective to discuss the biological properties related to the isoflavones found in soybean. These compounds are known by their biological activities as, estrogenic, antifungal, antioxidant and antitumor (breasts and prostate). Besides, inhibit the activity of enzymes linked to cell division, being their biological activities more accentuated in aglycones than glycosides forms. It has been demonstrated that the isoflavones may act against some diseases, but more studies are necessary to evaluate the application of these compounds in human feeding.
