This descriptive documental research aimed to characterize the socio-demographic and clinical profile of patients in a nursing outpatient center for the treatment of wounds in a teaching hospital. Data collection occurred in October 2013. The sample was 142 medical records of patients attended between January 2007 and December 2012. The study reveals the importance of the nursing outpatient center for treating chronic wounds. Among the characteristics, the following stand out: a predominantly female population 73(51.40%), and mean age of 55 years old, and an age range of 0 to 90 years old, with the highest percentage between 61 and 70 years old; the most frequent wounds were venous, with 112(44.45%). In relation to the number of wounds per person attended, 79(55.64%) had one wound. The diseases associated with the development of the wounds were Systemic Arterial Hypertension 67(47.18%) and Chronic Venous Insufficiency 58(40.84%).
