Reflection about the epistemological aspects of care and comfort as objects of knowledge in nursing. It emerges from the experience in the discipline of a PhD course, the teacher training in the Doctoral Program of EEAN / UFRJ. It stresses the importance of consistency in epistemological thought, when what is at stake is the nursing care and comfort. These objects emerge amid the requirement of rationality of the modern world by placing them in the space of exteriority of thought and scientific knowledge. It highlights the need for knowledge beyond the field of scientific knowledge, inserting in the order of rationality. This is a requirement and a vital need for the profession. Being part also in the collective imaginary, the rules of logical thinking, the discursive formations capable of binding values and knowledge with thought and reason in the training of nurses who care for and/or investigating.
