This paper reports one of the stages of the extension project "Suport to the use of medicinal plants by the health service of Parana States Municipalities". The final analysis of the data obtained through a questionnaire submitted to the population from Morretes Municipality revealed that 205 plants were currently being used as medicinal plants. The authors selected only 60 most mentioned medicinal plants and it was observed that 16 of those 60 medicinal plants (Figatil, Alecrim, Losna, Arruda, Salvia, Catinga de mulata, Erva de Santa Maria, Confrei, Bardana, Erva Moura, Aroeira, Artemisia, Sabugueiro, Guine, Arnica and Babosa) have toxic effects and, according to the literature, their use must be made with restriction.
