This work describes a simple, fast and low-cost spectrophotometric method for analysis of methyldopa in dosage forms. The method is based on the determination of the absorbance of the drug at 281nm using HCl 0,01M. The results showed that the proposed method is linear in the concentration range from 20.0 to 60.0 mg/mL, with intermediate precision, repeatability and accuracy in accordance with the specications required by ANVISA. The proposed method was compared with the ofcial method and applied in 4 samples.
