In industrial processing of grinding motors are gen erated waste pollutants causing negative environmen tal impacts. However, the most relevant question in the grinding process is the generation of effluents. T he use of physical and chemical processes shows up as a modern alternative for the treatment of wastewater gener ated, but still little researched worldwide. This work pr esents a proposal to evaluate the efficiency of the physical- chemical process as post-treatment of effluents fro m grinding engines, based on processes of coagulati on and flocculation , through the characterization of the raw wastewater and treated effluent analysis . In a ddition, there was a selection of the best coagulant/floccul ants that presents best cost-effective for the trea tment. We tested three types of coagulant/flocculant and the following variables has been used as response: Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), phosphorus (P), Turbidity, pH, temperature and oils and Grease (O&G). The Veta Organic coagulant showed better results in accordin g the qualitative, quantitative and economic aspect s. This reagent demonstrated best performance for the physi cal-chemical post-treatment of wastewater from grin ding motors.
