CARACTERIZAÇÃO DE CAULIM DO MUNICÍPIO DE QUATRO IRMÃOS, RS.

This paper presents the results of the characteriza tion, using experimental techniques, of a kaolin sa mple from Quatro Irmaos-RS, city. This mineral is used as raw material in the manufacture of red ceramic (bricks ) by a company in Erebango-RS, city. The results show that the sample is formed, predominantly, by kaolinite. Also contain quartz and hematite. The particle size dist ribution of the sample indicates that about, 70% ap pears with particle size less than 70 micrometers. Also sugges ts that this raw material could be used in the manu facture of products with higher value.
