The early Neolithic site of 'Ain Ghazal in Jordan is famous for the discovery there of a cache of 28 lime-plaster statues that are among the earliest known large-scale human figures, dated to approximately 8700 years ago. The member of the Institute's staff who is responsible for the conservation of the statues describes how she set about recovering, investigating and reconstructing them
