Libraries are institutions with an extensive cumulation of specialized knowledge in the field of information systems. They are qualified to participate in the mediation process concerning information literacy. The amount of competencies to be teached requires several lessons which are to be coordinated in content and methodology. Comprehensive models representing the essential structures and factors of the information process may become the basis for coordination. A model of this kind is DYMIK which has been developed at the university library of Heidelberg as an instrument for the didactic and methodical improval of the modular training lessons and the addition of internet-based tutorials concerning information literacy.
