Queries with a geographic scope are often posted to information retrieval systems. Geographic search terms conditions like city or country names allow search engines to optimize their results beyond classic indexing techniques. Geographic entities can be identified within ontologies and be properly extended, for example. This paper briefly reviews the state of the art, analyses current evaluation results and presents new optimization techniques. Experiments show that the flexible application of relevance feedback can improve the retrieval results. Veröffentlicht in: OSSWALD, Achim; STEMPFHUBER, Maximilian; WOLFF, Christian (2007).
