A experiência da família no cuidado domiciliário ao doente com câncer: uma revisão integrativa

The insertion of the family in health care is a great challenge, and with increase of chronic diseases, this situation has been observed, especially in homecare. This study aimed to gather and evaluate evidence in literature produced on the family’s experience in homecare of adults with cancer. Integrative review held in the databases LILACS, BDENF, SciELO, MEDLINE using keywords “family”, “neoplasm” OR “cancer”, “homecare”. Criteria for selection: Publications indexed in databases published intil december 2010, with full text available. There were 16 publications and they allowed the analysis on the experience of family in home care, showing the family has been included in decisions and support. The findings showed that the family faces the cancer as a life-threatening event and suffering; the impact of care; and the importance of spirituality to understand suffering. Providing support to the family is fundamental to improved quality of life for cancer with cancer. Descriptors: Home nursing; Neoplasms; Family; Family nursing.
