doi: 10.5216/ree.v12i4.8580 Memories and representations about the SUS influence knowledge and professionals practices. The purpose of this study is to examine the memories and the representations of the nursing professionals concerning SUS. The research deals with a qualitative analysis based on Social Representations and it was developed with 26 nursing professionals of the elementary and high school levels. The data analysis procedure was made through interviews and verified by software called ALCESTE 4.7. The results were displayed into two groups: the first theme part lumps together the first class (Images and definitions of SUS and INAMPS) and the fourth class (changes occurred in the health care system). The second theme part groups the second class (Memories and representations of the basic health care system) and the third one (the relations within the nursing team: the doctor and the users of the health care system). Therefore, it is not yet clear to the professionals the condition of access to public health services, and they over the SUS to the old system of health, INAMPS. The difficulties encountered by subjects in the issues concerning access to health services, interpersonal relations and working conditions point to the SUS as a system still in the process of implementation. Descriptors: Health System; Single Health System; Health Policy; Nursing Team.
