This paper analyzes the characteristics of female entrepreneurship in Spain. After a description of the labor evolution of women during the period 2002-17, this study focuses on examining women who have started a business activity. Through the exploitation of the Active Population Survey (EPA), the sectoral concentration of female entrepreneurship in Spain before and after the crisis has been examined. Likewise, it has been studied whether the consideration of the educational level attained by the woman and her place of residence affect in some way the sectoral segregation of her businesses. Finally, after a detailed review of the different factors that influence the probability that a woman decides to start a business on her own, a binomial logit model has been estimated to find out which objective variables are the ones that most influence female entrepreneurship (year 2017).
