Based on a corpus of three TV series, this study compares three similar characteristics of pronominal address forms in Spanish and Chinese. These characteristics –ellipsis of second person pronouns as subject, pronominal polymorphism, and the pronominal pronoun lexicalization– are further discussed in their relation to the particular linguistic and cultural factors that favour them.
