Domestic violence is still a very unfortunate issue that may be present in the life of the women seeking medical treatment for several different reasons, mainly in mental health clinics. Health professionals, in the Brazilian context, in general, are not prepared for identifying and handling situations, involving violence against women, adequately. Therefore, this is the report of an experience in which the mental health problems of a patient were mainly related to the constant aggressions she had suffered.
