The transfer process of Irrigation Districts, in Mexico, constituted a very important change in water management, by rethinking the existing relationship between the State, and the users of this resource. It also stimulated the organizational processes that led to self-management responses by irrigation water users, as in the case of the Yautepec River. However, more than a decade after having completed the transfer negotiations, which resulted in the disincorporation of the Irrigation District of the above mentioned river, the need to rejoin it, is again raised, by organizing a Limited Liability Company. Around this dynamic, where there are positions both for and against, is that this work has been formulated. First, we will locate and characterize the irrigation systems involved. Second, the discussion regarding the transfer process will be opened. Finally, the possible routes and consequences of this process will be analyzed.
