Thoracic outlet syndrome is defined as the entrapment of neurovascular structures in the thoracic outlet region. This syndrome can be divided into vascular, neurogenic and nonspecific in terms of diagnosis and treatment. Physical examination, provacative tests, EMG, imaging techniques and scalene muscle block can be used for diagnosis. Pharmacologic methods such as analgesic, antiinflammatory and myorelaxant drugs, physiotherapy aimed at alleviating muscle spasm, algologic interventions such as scalene muscle block and stellate ganglion block and surgical decompression can be employed for treatment of this syndrome.
