In international adoption, some countries require use of specific clinical techniques for assessing the suitability of applicant families. This article analyzes the advantages and limitations of the Rorschach Psychodiagnostic Test (Comprehensive System) for assessing the aptitudes and attitudes that guarantee the suitability of adoptive parents. As this is a multi-method, perceptual, projective technique, its validity to measure personality variables linked to the care and upbringing of a minor child from another biological family is examined. A case is used to illustrate the technical considerations required to obtain valid, reliable information.
