This case report analyzes the experience of migrant deported from San Diego, USA, and living in Tijuana, Mexico, who attended psychotherapy for difficulty in establishing affective bonds. Brief psychotherapy with a Gestalt approach was used to achieve recognition of his experience, working contact with himself and knowing his construction of the world, which is based on an imaginary of conflicting schemes, which leads him to establish troublesome confluent relations. The case of Juan allows for analyzing how being a migrant is key for the way in which reality is constructed, which is in this case ambivalent and contradictory, as a reflection of the two different cultures to which he belongs.
