Forced migration is a phenomenon which in recent times has exponentially risen and had a prominent impact on our society. The experience of working with refugees in transit toward Europe is set out in this article, in particular while the refugees made their way through the Greek islands, during the last quarter of 2015. The basic aim of this article is to provide guidance to those working with asylum seekers and who are helping to implement intervention programs, in the fields of Mental Health and Psychosocial support for these people. The article focuses primarily on the analysis of factors that cause trauma and stress in this population, and how a psychosocial intervention team that is part of the humanitarian organization Doctors of the World responded.
