Gender-based violence, or violence against women (VAW), is a major social, public health and human rights problem throughout the world, which can be present in several ways. In Spain, conjugal violence is one of the most deadly types, as well as one of the most physical and psychological harming forms of VAW. This article presents a real clinical case of conjugal violence. After twenty years of conjugal life and two months after his partner decided to end the relationship, the aggressor convinced her to go to his home and stabbed her seventeen times in the presence of two minor children. We describe the history of violence committed by this aggressor against his victim, the therapeutic process and cognitive therapy techniques that were applied to her in order to eliminate the symptoms and overcome this traumatic event.
