Una experiencia PBL en Grado Ingeniería de Diseño Industrial, adaptando el método de sistemas de retículas de Diseño Gráfico

Este articulo muestra la potencialidad que tiene la adaptacion de metodologias desde campos no cientifico-tecnicos al aprendizaje en ingenierias en el contexto de PBL, a traves de la descripcion detallada de una experiencia en Ingenieria de Diseno Industrial. Para que un producto consiga exito comercial debe ser capaz de comunicar determinados mensajes a su potencial comprador. El control sobre la capacidad comunicativa del producto es asi una de las principales habilidades que debe adquirir un estudiante de diseno industrial. Esta habilidad se ha desarrollado habitualmente mediante la exploracion de las variables formales de un concepto de producto, pero la habitual subjetividad en el analisis y valoracion de los resultados produce inseguridad en los estudiantes, que no disponen de herramientas para defender la fortaleza de sus propuestas, y dificultad para su evaluacion por los docentes. Adaptando un metodo utilizado en diseno grafico, se ha conseguido que equipos de estudiantes de ingenieria de diseno industrial colaboren de un modo objetivo y la vez creativo, relacionando con facilidad elementos esteticos y tecnicos del producto a traves de la consideracion de la capacidad comunicativa de este en su conjunto, como rasgo relevante. El metodo resultante es de facil comprension y aplicacion, y puede ser util en el campo profesional. Finalmente, este articulo muestra como, usando este metodo, un equipo de estudiantes de Grado en Ingenieria de Diseno Industrial y Desarrollo de Producto ha desarrollado, definido y relacionado con exito las caracteristicas esteticas y tecnicas de una serie de conceptos innovadores de motocicleta ecologica. ABSTRACT An experience of PBL in Industrial Design Degrees, trough the adaptation of systems of layouts from Graphic Design. This article shows how interesting can be the adaptation of methodologies from fields different to those scientific or technical to engineering learning in the context of PBL, through the detailed description of a case in Industrial Design Engineering. To reach success, a product needs to communicate some specific messages to its user. The control over this communicative capacity of the product is thus a major skill that industrial design students must obtain from their learning. This skill has been usually developed by the exploration of the possible external formal characteristics of a product. But the subjectivity in the analysis and valuation of the results produces a lack of self-confidence in the students, because they don´t have the means to defend the reliability of their proposals, and difficulties of its evaluation from the teachers. By the adaptation to industrial design of a technique used in graphic design, it has been possible for teams of students to define concepts of product in an objective but creative manner, relating aesthetic and technical aspects of the product from an appraisal of its communicative potential as a whole, as most relevant feature. This technique is easy to understand and apply, and can be useful in a professional field, too. Finally, this article shows how this methodology has been successfully applied by a team of students of Degree in Engineering in Industrial Design and Product Development to fully develop, define and relate the aesthetic and technical general features of a series of ecological motorcycle innovative concepts.
