Between 2016 and 2019, diurnal butterflies were sampled in three dominant forest areas in the Cordillera Protectora de Manantiales Cerro Alux in order to establish it’s degree of ecological stability. 446 diurnal butterflies of the Nymphalidae, Papilionidae and Pieridae families were captured, of which 26 species were identified. All of the estimated biodiversity indices coincide in pointing out that the pine-oak forest ecosystem, regardless of the altitude from which the samples were taken, are highly diverse and all the species considered in the study share similar abundances without dominance by any of the sampled forests.
