The Youth and Adult Education is characterized by being a teaching modality that aims to introduce into the school environment those who have had interruptions along their educational path. Thus, this individual’s worldview becomes characteristic, since they present already conceived experiences, that is, each individuals with their own specificities. Mathematics is an indispensable tool, as it is present in actions that the individual performs daily, that is, contributes to the formation of the citizen by developing methodologies that emphasize autonomy, valuing their reality. Taking this into account, when teaching mathematics, it is necessary that teaching practice is based on the appropriation of teaching methodologies that emphasize and group such experiences turning them into meaningful knowledge in the teaching-learning process. Thus, this work, appropriating a quanti-quali approach and a descriptive-explanatory research, aims to investigate, in a school unit of the public school system of the city of Macaé, the pedagogical and methodological practices used by the teacher. Mathematics in Youth and Adult Education, having as a parameter the legal and curricular principles.
