Ein 44jähriger Büroangestellter kommt mit einer zweiwöchigen Schwäche in den Beinen. Im Alter von sechs Monaten wurde er wegen eines Hydrozephalus ein ventrikuloatrialer Shunt angelegt. Mit vierzehn Jahren machte eine Ataxie und Parese der Beine eine Shuntrevision notwendig. Er ist verheiratet, hat zwei Kinder. Eine neuropsychologische Untersuchung ergibt einen IQ von 75. Das CT und MRI zeigt eine gewaltige Erweiterung der Liquorräume I-IV, einen äusserst dünnen kortikalen Mantel und eine Zyste in der posterioren Fossa. Noch einmal wird ein ventrikuloperitonealer Shunt angelegt. Die neurologischen Ausfälle erholen sich. CT und neuropsychologische Befunde bleiben unverändert.
