Summary Fatigue and depression Fatigue is characterised in an overview of the literature as a specific phenomenon of depression. Its differential diagnosis is discussed. Distinctions and corre spon dences to burnout are elaborated. Fatigue is not an oblig atory symptom of depressive episodes, although it can contribute to depressive developments. The impor tance of fatigue in depressive episodes and its therapy is shown with the help of a circular model of depression.
