Special challenges in the highest-elevation acute-care hospital in Europe Oberengadin Hospital in Samedan is faced with particular challenges, as the highest-elevation acute-care hospital in Europe (1750 m = 5,740 ft above sea level). The factors re sponsible for this are elevation-related and meteo ro logical/climatic influences, as well as seasonal variations in Südbünden’s demographic structure due to tourism.
