Penetrating Hand Injury During Crocheting with the Hooked Needle in a 6 Years Old Child

A six years old female child admitted to the emergency room with penetrating left hand injury by a hooked needle during crocheting (figure 1, 2). The entry point of the hooked needle was localized between second and third metacarpals on palmar side. No exit point was identified. No neurological and vascular abnormalities were found by physical examination. A 0.5 cm incision was performed between 2nd and 3rd metacarpals on dorsal side of left hand under sedation. Hooked needle was forced from palmar to dorsally and, excised carefully from that incision. Single dose cefazolin sodium was administered after closing incision
