This article problematizes evaluation as a field of studies and practices in Brazil, based on the Bourdieusian notion of scientific field (BOURDIEU, 1983, 2004). The evaluation presents itself with increasing density, although fragmented, subjected to its own demands, with repertoires of action and grammars of justification that still need to be expanded. Despite the efforts around the professionalization and the strengthening of national and international networks, evaluative logics centred on the methodological plan still prevail, mostly based on prescriptions contained in manuals. This generates limited reflexivity and consequences for their own learning processes, including in the context of the so-called posttruth. We propose a critical interpretation of the current configuration of the field, also centered on the epistemological perspective and not only on the methodological one. We argue for the need of an axiological exercise of normative-evaluative positionality, in an intersubjective and relational way, between the evaluator and the evaluated, in a logic of what we call an antimanual of evaluation.
