Purpose: This article aims to know the process of searching for technological information on patents registered in national and international databases on an Andiroba medicinal plant and its anti-inflammatory properties. Method: The methodology used in this study was through the collection of document information in the databases from May 2007 to May 2018. Through the analysis of existing technological information on patent registrations, we researched as the keyword “andiroba”. A survey was conducted on the databases of the National Institute of Intellectual Production (INPI), European Espacenet Office (EP) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Results: When selected or criterion “anti-inflammatory properties”, 1 patent in INPI, 3 patents in EP and 2 patents in USPTO. Conclusion: It was found that andiroba had a wide field of application in the market being used for the purposes of repellency, aesthetics, anti-inflammatory action as the main use. Thus, the collected data show us, in need of further studies of this medicinal plant, the possibility of generating more invention patents in Brazil.
