The increased appearance of bacteria resistant to antibiotics demands new and more potent antibacterial agents and materials, such as Advanced Oxidative Processes (AOPs). Accordingly, the photocatalytic treatment presents itself as an alternative to the waters’ microbiological inactivation. Therefore, this paper aimed to evaluate the efficiency of a photocatalytic system to the inactivation of Escherichia coli bacteria in water at temperatures of 25 and 35 ° C. For this, our team developed fiberglass semiconductors coated with titanium dioxide and doped with ferric compound in a concentration of 1% by the Pechini method, which were submitted to UV light radiation’s reactor. The results obtained for all treatments were satisfactory, reaching 100% bacterial inactivation in only 2 minutes of hydraulic detention time. Thus, the results are promising to the application of this technique in water disinfection.
