This article specifi cally focuses on the importance of a structured approach to the implementation of employee engagement strategies in creating a post-merged organisational culture of excellent work performance. Theoretical insights from existing literature illustrate how a structured approach to the implementation of various employee engagement strategies have assisted merged corporates. The article also focuses on the way certain merged higher education institutions (HEIs) have applied specifi c employee engagement strategies, in a combination of structured and unstructured approaches,in their efforts to achieve a post-merged organisational culture of excellent work performance. These theoretical and empirical insights gleaned from various sources were compared with the fi ndings of this particular empirical study in order to determine similarities and differences.
