A remarkable growth in quantity and popularity\udof online social networks has been observed in recent years.\udThere is a good number of online social networks exists\udwhich have over 100 million registered users. Many of these\udpopular social networks offer automated recommendations\udto their users. This automated recommendations are\udnormally generated using collaborative filtering systems\udbased on the past ratings or opinions of the similar users.\udAlternatively, trust among the users in the network also can\udbe used to find the neighbors while making\udrecommendations. To obtain the optimum result, there must\udbe a positive correlation exists between trust and interest\udsimilarity. Though the positive relations between trust and\udinterest similarity are assumed and adopted by many\udresearchers; no survey work on real life people’s opinion to\udsupport this hypothesis is found. In this paper, we have\udreviewed the state-of-the-art research work on trust in\udonline social networks and have presented the result of the\udsurvey on the relationship between trust and interest\udsimilarity. Our result supports the assumed hypothesis of\udpositive relationship between the trust and interest\udsimilarity of the users
