ABS TRACT Objective: Viral hepatitis is still a significant risk for both personel and patients in hemodialysis units. Initially we aimed to determine the seropositivity rates of HBsAg, Anti-HBs ve Anti-HCV in Rize province for hemodialysis patients. Materials and Methods: In 2011, 181 hemodialysis patients were enrolled from four different hemodialysis units in Rize province (one private and others state). Data were collected by scanning of the charts of patients retrospectively. The samples of patients were analysed for HBsAg, Anti-HBs and Anti-HCV seropositivities by ELISA method. Results: Mean age of 181 patients (68 women, 113 men) was 59.26 (15.02 SD) and it was 58.57 (15.81 SD) for men and 60.41 (13.64 SD) for women. The applied dialysis time to patients was 3-114 months and its mean was 57.33 (58.61 SD) in general (54.15 (56.54 SD) for men, 62.57 (61.93 SD) for women). The rates of seropositivity for HBsAg, Anti-HBs and Anti-HCV were 5.5%, 73.5% and 16.0%, respectively. HBsAg-Anti-HCV concurrent positivity was detected only one patient. There was no gender differences between sex for HBsAg or Anti-HBs or Anti-HCV seropositivities, or HBsAg and Anti-HCV concurrent positivity. Similarly, there was no significant differences for each seropositivity rate between age groups. Anti-HCV positivity was higher in patients who dialysed for a long time. HBsAg seropositivity was found to be borderline significant. It was not found any significant relation between application of dialysis and the HBsAg, Anti-HBs and Anti-HCV seropositivities. ÖZET Amaç: Viral hepatitler hemodiyaliz ünitelerinde hem çalışan hem hastalar için önemli bir risk olmaya devam etmektedir. Enfeksiyon kontrol önlemlerinin ve aşılamanın düzenli yapıldığı diyaliz ünitelerinde hepatit B virus (HBV) ve hepatit C virus (HCV) enfeksiyonu sıklığında düşüş gözlenmektedir. Rize ilindeki hemodiyaliz (HD) hastalarında HBsAg, Anti-HBs ve Anti-HCV seropozitiflik oranlarını belirleyerek ilin ilk verileri olmasından dolayı ülkemiz epidemiyolojik verilerine katkı sağlamak ve ileriki zamanlarda hemodiyaliz hastalarında (HD) hastalarına uygulanan enfeksiyon kontrol önlemlerinin etkinliğinin belirlenmesine yardımcı olmaktır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Rize ilinde biri özel, üçü devlet olmak üzere dört hemodiyaliz (HD) merkezinde 1 Ocak-31 Aralık 2011 tarihlerinde tedavi gören 181 HD hastası çalışmaya alındı. Veriler retrospektif olarak hasta dosyaları taranarak tespit edildi. Hasta örneklerinde HBsAg, Anti-HBs ve Anti-HCV seropozitiflikleri enzim immunoassay yöntemi ile değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan 181 hastanın 68’i kadın (%37,6) 113’ü erkek (%62,4) idi. Yaş ortalamaları genelde 59,26±15,02 iken, erkeklerde 58,57±15,81 kadınlarda 60,41±13,64 idi. Hastalar 3-144 aydır diyalize giren hastalardı ve ortalama diyalize girme süreleri genelde 57,33±58,61 ay iken erkeklerde 54,15±56,54 kadınlarda 62,57±61,93 idi. HBsAg pozitifliği %5.5, Anti-HBs pozitifliği %73,5, Anti-HCV %16,0 bulunurken HBsAg ve Anti-HCV birlikte pozitifliği yalnız 1 hastada tesbit edilmiştir. Cinsiyete göre değerlendirildiğinde HBsAg, Anti-HBs, Anti-HCV ve HBsAg ve Anti-HCV birlikte pozitifliği için cinsiyet farkı olmadığı görülmüştür. Yaş gruplarına göre Doi: 10.4274/Vhd.14633
