Molecular hydrogen deposition is a phenomenon which is still not well understood. It is, however, the largest term in the H2 budget. The uncertainties in H2 deposition can be reduced by local studies measuring the concentrations of H2, carbon monoxide and radon which allow the rate of the uptake to be calculated. An estimate of this term on a global scale can be made using inverse modelling.
