الموازنةُ بين الطائفيَّين دراسة نقدية لكتابَي (شخصية/ وأبعاد (الطائف الشعرية) للقرشي والثبيتي

this study is about a literary dispute between two Saudi scholars from Taif, a dispute much discussed in the Saudi press. In 2000 Prof. Äli Sarhan Al-Qurashi published a book entitled The Poetic Personality of Taif. Sixteen years later, Mr. Qulayyil Muhammad Al-Thubaiti published his own book, The Poetic Dimensions of Taif. AlQurashi was miffed by this publication because Al-Thubaiti completely ignored his predecessor’s book. The annoyance morphed into a dispute, and the Saudi press jumped into the fray. Later on, the dispute developed into a lawsuit when Al-Qurashi lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Culture and Information, as it was called then. The goal of this study is to examine both books very carefully in order not only to point to the reader the deep roots of the scholarly dispute, but also to outline the similarities and differences between the two books. This is done with a view to judging them objectively. It is hoped that this study of an important scholarly dispute has been guided by the rules of neutrality, objectivity, and academic disinterestedness.
