This trial was designed to test efficacy of a new chemical by BASF against the TSSM. Test was conducted at the Center for Applied Horticultural Research in Vista, CA from 6 May to 3 June 2011. A RCB design with six single plant replicates per treatment was used. Plants were placed on an expanded metal bench in a temperature-controlled greenhouse. A single application of the miticides occurred on 6 May 2011 using a 48 oz pressure sprayer (Delta Industries, King of Prussia, PA.) with an adjustable spray pattern nozzle. Prior to the application, two leaves (sample/plant) from various positions on the plant were marked with tape. The number of alive and dead adults and nymphs were counted. The number of eggs was also recorded along with rating each plant for phytotoxicity with 1= no effects and 5= severe. Five post-application evaluations were completed using the same evaluation method at 3, 7, 17, 21 and 28 DAT. The data were were subjected to ANOVA using SAS with mean separation using Fisher’s LSD (á=0.05) test.
