The mean cobalt content of 59 grass samples was 0.028 ± 0.003 mgkg −1 and of 25 legume samples 0.088 ± 0.008 mg kg −1 . It was concluded that supplemental cobalt is justified for ruminant animals fed forages grown in New Brunswick. Key words: Cobalt, forages
