Rumen urease and protease activities of conventionally-fed sheep and of lambs fed totally by intragastric infusion were compared. The proteolytic activities were of different types, but the properties of the ureases indicated that the urease activity of infused lambs is very similar to the basal activity of the normal rumen. Key words: Infusion, rumen bacteria, urease, protease
