Digitalhealth prophets described how health information systems would pro-vide consumers and providers with relevant, timely, and influentialhealth information to address challenging health issues and enhancehealth outcomes. However, the enthusiastic predictions about theamazing contributions of digital health programs for promoting publichealth has not reached fruition and the great promise of health infor-mation systems has resulted in limited returns.
