A new tetracyclic sesquiterpene, 1, 5, 12 trimethyltetracyclic [6, 3, 0, 0, 03, 4, 8] dodecane was isolated from the dichloromethane extract of Hortonia angustifolia. It was characterized by means of Mass and NMR spectroscopic analysis. It was found to be biologically inactive in the mosquitolarvicidal assay and moderately active against the fungus Cladosporium cladosprioides.
