The role of body practices to the constitution and identity of traditional communities is still little known. The objective of this study is to investigate how the body practices the Pomeranian community Alto Santa Maria (Santa Maria de Jetiba, ES) helps to materialize the traditions of that community, while that reconfigure themselves in their movements of continuity and change. In this context, we dialogue with the category tradition19and prestigious imitation18in an ethnographic research. Dances and plays are related to rural and urban times and spaces in which the imitation of rituals is significant. The research confirmed that the body practices dialogue and permeate community's continuity and rupture. In this way, the order finds shelter in the disorder, so the tradition accepts both order and disorder as elements that keep it alive.
