Evaluating the Use of an Online Video Training Program to Supplement a Graduate Course in Applied Behavior Analysis

Theprimarypurposeofthepresentarticlewastoevaluatetheeffectsofasupplementalonlinevideo programonstudentquizperformanceforanonlinecourseinappliedbehavioranalysis.Nineteen graduatestudents,inagesrangingfrom22to40,agreedtoparticipateinthisstudy.Awithin-subject groupdesignwasused.Thecontrolconditioncontainedtextbookreadingsandaccompaniedselfguidednotes,whileanonlinevideotrainingprogramwasaddedtosupplementtheexperimental condition.Resultsindicatedthatthestudentsscoredsignificantlyhigherintheirweeklyquizzesunder theconditionsupplementedwiththeonlinevideotrainingprogram.Thestudentsperceivedthevideo trainingprogramasequallyhelpfulasthetextbook,buttheyenjoyedtheonlinevideossignificantly morethanthetextbook.Students’self-reportedenjoymentoftheonlinevideoswasalsopositively correlatedtotheirquizperformanceundertheconditionsupplementedwiththevideos.
