This study aims to estimate the effects of a reduction in the difference of human capital accumulation between genders on the economic growth of the Brazilian states for the period 1993-2010. To attain the goal set, we conducted a quantitative study, with the application of the regression model for dynamic panel data and an empirical analysis based on the Solow model of increased growth. Overall, it is concluded that human capital is of relative importance for the economic growth of the Brazilian states and that women’s education has increased in comparison with men’s education, which would be beneficial for economic growth if women would increase their participation in the labor market, as they are getting better educated than men. Keywords: economic growth, human capital, gender difference.
