We prove the unique continuation property for the isotropic elas- ticity system with arbitrarily large residual stress. This work improves the result obtained in (10) where the residual stress is assumed to be small. 1. Introduction. In this paper we prove the unique continuation property (UCP) for the isotropic elasticity system with residual stress. Residual stresses are stresses that remain after the original cause of the stresses has been removed. We consider the case of large residual stresses.
