International audienceThis article is based on clinical practice with patients suffering from cancer and puts forward the hypothesis that the traumatic effect triggered by the confirmation of the illness gives rise to a perception of the body from which the subject recomposes their death fantasies.This perceived ‘strangeness’ of the body that picks up on the traumatic announcement of the illness, awakens in turn other unconscious traumas which, as it were, make the most of the opportunity to come back to life again. It is the psychoanalyst’s role to make way for a working-through process and this is only possible within the framework of transference.Cet article part d’une expérience clinique avec des patients atteints de cancer. Il développe l’idée d’un effet traumatique déclenché par l’annonce de la maladie donnant lieu à une perception corporelle à partir de laquelle le sujet recompose son fantasme de mort.Cette « étrangeté » du corps qui se poursuit par la reprise active du traumatique vient réveiller des traumatismes inconscients qui ne demandent qu’à profiter de cette situation de maladie pour être réanimés.
